A RESEARCH ON CYBER TRACKING IN THE CONTEXT OF GENDER

Today, the increase in the use of the Internet has begun to reshape the way individuals perceive life and communicate. In this context, the increase in the use of social media causes an increase in negative actions such as stalking. Stalking is the regular follow-up of individuals via the internet, social media or physically. In stalking, stalkers, called stalkers, make a superior effort to gather information about the individual. In the research, the persistent follow-up action on social media was examined and the opinions of individuals who were and were not victims were evaluated with the online survey method. The data in the study were obtained from 437 users who voluntarily participated in the online survey and actively used social media. As a result of the study, it was revealed that the understanding and application of the concept of stalking differ according to the gender of the individuals participating in the survey. According to their gender, the participants perceive and define the concept of cyber stalking in different ways in their minds. In addition, women approach stalking activities more sensitively than men and see them as a criminal element
