In our digitalized world, television broadcasting has also been transformed. In today's world where production, distribution, audience habits, viewing patterns and devices have been transformed, the number of online television platforms and web series have been increasing. Users, who have become active through interaction and convergence, produce their content within the framework of participatory culture, either in the formof fan culture or in an original way. Participatory culture enables users and web series in terms of production, distribution and interaction. In this study, the extent to which web series can find a place in YouTube Trends US and Turkey rankings in the context of participatory culture, the place and originality of user-developed content in this ecosystem, and the ratio of the number of views to other types of content were determined. In this direction, 416 videos obtained from YouTube US and Turkey Trends lists had been analyzed within the framework of content analysis, which is a quantitative research method.
