Abstract

Colombian cinema could not offer much content in the early years of cinema to its audiences who In this study, based on Connell's studies on hegemonic masculinity, it is discussed how hegemonic masculinity is constructed, shaped, interpreted and presented in society through Turkish actors in men's magazines. Power relations between the sexes cannot be understood only through women. Therefore, it is necessary to look at the man who is the subject in society. Masculinity studies, which are quite new compared to women's studies that have been going on for years, continue their studies with the claim that masculinity is taught through certain behaviors, traditions and norms in society. In the changing world order, various forms of masculinity emerge. In this order, where there is no single form of masculinity, various studies are carried out to understand the relationship between masculinity styles. Power and power relations draw attention not only between men and women, but also between different forms of masculinity. The hegemonic form of masculinity, which is the defender of a single form of masculinity, ignores all other masculinity forms that are different from itself. In this context, how hegemonic masculinity is constructed in men's magazines in the study has been examined with the method of semiotics through the magazine photographs of Turkish actors Akın Akınözü, Kerem Bursin and Çağatay Ulusoy.
