Abstract

In this study, the views and perceptions of Yozgat Bozok University Communication Faculty students regarding gender roles are examined. The article is based on the analysis of online survey data. The questionnaire was delivered to all students in three different departments of the Faculty of Communication, namely Radio Television-Cinema, Public Relations and Journalism, via e-mail, sms and whatsapp student groups. In the Faculty of Communication, where the number of active students is close to 500, 106 students answered the questionnaire, being balanced in three parts. In the Turkish literature, there is a very large literature on the determination of university students' thoughts on gender roles. In these studies, it is generally emphasized that female students have a more egalitarian perspective on gender roles than male students, but that all students generally have a traditional perspective. This study aims to test these results in the case of Yozgat Bozok University. On the other hand, the number of studies revealing the Gender perceptions of Communication Faculty students is quite limited. However, it is important to determine the thoughts and perceptions of the students of the Faculty of Communication, who will be the media professionals of the future and will create the media texts and thus determine the views of the society, and it is thought that this study will contribute to the literature in this sense.
